Shorter than our usual trekking routes, this year’s route was a 6-day continuous east-to-west crossing of the Jotunheimen National Park, with a rest day at the Spiterstulen hut half way. We were aware that hut-to-hut distances were considerably longer than our usual average in the Alps, with less ascent and descent on most days, but the uneven, bouldery nature of large stretches of the paths made a steady walking pace difficult and contributed to some very long and tiring days. Nevertheless we enjoyed some spectacular scenery and completed the route with a sense of achievement and satisfaction.
