Commitments on the MGS staff visit to Uganda leaving on 22nd July limited the time available for an alpine trek, and heavy snowfall while at the Edel hut curtailed the initial few days’ walking. However the final five days gave excellent trekking in glorious weather and spectacular surroundings. It was a high level traverse round the upper reaches of the Zillertal (part of the Berliner Hohenweg), including ascents to two 3000 m peaks, Schönbichler Horn (3134 m) and Hohe Riffler (3231 m)
