The route was a fairly straightforward trek along most of the Dolomites Alta Via 2, passing through the Sass de Putia, Odle, Puez, Sella, Marmolada and Pale de San Martino groups and finishing at Passo Rolle. We diverted to the west round the section over the Marmolada, via Alba and up Val Contrin, and took the variant through the Odle group via the Firenze hut rather than the more direct route between the Genova and Puez huts. En route we included ascents of Piz Boè (3152 m) from the Piz Boè hut and Monte Mulaz (2906 m) from the Mulaz hut..
