The first 5-day section of the route was mostly along the first part of the Gran Paradiso Alta Via 2, with an improved variation for the second day to include an ascent of Torre Ponton (3101 m). The second half was a 4-day high level traverse beneath the main glaciated peaks of the range ending with a superb ascent of Becca della Traversière, at 3337 m an OTT record..
